Kendrick Lamar has joined forces once again with SZA to release the dreamy and romantic music video for “Luther,” one of the standout tracks from his unexpected 2024 album GNX.

The video is directed by Karena Evans, who previously worked on Drake’s “In My Feelings” and Coldplay’s “Everyday Life.” It captures a graceful and intimate atmosphere. Throughout the visuals, both Kendrick and SZA are seen with their respective love interests, as the narrative unfolds with a gentle elegance. The video closes by paying homage to its roots, featuring the original rendition of “If This World Were Mine” by Cheryl Lynn and Luther Vandross, the track sampled in “Luther.”

Lamar’s release of GNX in November came as a surprise after speculation swirled around a possible new project. The album includes collaborations with artists like Jack Antonoff and Kamasi Washington, and quickly claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. This marks Lamar’s fifth straight album to top the chart. All 12 tracks appeared on the Billboard Hot 100, with five landing in the top tier. Just last month, GNX secured its third non-consecutive week as the best-selling album in the United States.
